Bruce has 24 years of pastoral ministry experience. He has been married for over 30 years and has 3 adult children (2 married). These people are the greatest gifts God has given to him. He loves hearing people’s stories with a keen interest in seeing God in the midst of the journey whether difficult or easy. It is clear that God’s ways are often beyond the human ability to understand. Walking alongside another to celebrate the joys and sorrows is a significant part of growing to be a mature follower of Christ. Bruce believes that we were not meant to grow alone.
He has been involved with Urban Sanctuary since 2008 where he began a personal journey in Spiritual Direction. This was journey a time of significant transition in his pastoral ministry. He had just come through major surgery that was a catalyst for a new look at life and ministry, but also revealed his own need for soul care. In the next years he went through a 2 year course of Spiritual Formation at Urban Sanctuary called the Institute. He began to read and study in the area of Spiritual Formation. This led to some radical changes to the focus of his pastoral ministry, leading the church to focus more and more on a clear pathway to maturity in Christ. In 2012, Bruce began Urban Sanctuary’s process for Spiritual Direction and began directing several young men from his congregation. He also began to spiritually direct other pastors and leaders from various places. His heart is to see people learn to hear God’s voice and journey to follow His leading.
